Early Years News!

During their first half term at Earlsheaton Infant School the children have learnt about the rules and routines in class. They have explored their new surroundings and made new friends. The children have settled in well and are adjusting to school life smoothly.
During Autumn 1 the Reception children in Unicorns class began by learning about their family and who lives in their house. The children showed curiosity when exploring photos of each other's families and special times. They also discussed who is special to them and fun memories they have made with their family.
We then explored harvest and the changes we might see in Autumn time. We went on an Autumn walk and took photos of signs of Autumn around the school grounds. We also visited the local shop to buy vegetables to make vegetable soup. The children loved reading the story of Olivers Vegetables and learning about where vegetables grow. Before the half term holidays, we learnt about Diwali and made our own Diya lamps from clay.
More recently the children have visited the war memorial on Remembrance Day to lay a poppy wreath. We have now begun a new topic on people who help us which has included a visit from Dewsbury Fire service and a chance to explore a fire engine! The children are also busy preparing for their first Nativity which is sure to be a show stopper and we can't wait to share it as we move closer to Christmas!
